My First Project: A Python Game!
Date Posted: 3rd May 2025
Wowee -- I've got a posting streak going! (We'll see how long this lasts.) But, as I promised yeterday, this post will be introducing my first WIP (or "work in progress" for those who might not know what that actually means.) I'm going to start off fairly simple but also relatively important for future projects: a Python terminal game. It's going to look and sound pretty boring to non-developers but, in reality, I hope it will still be fun to play! There's also a few reasons why I'm starting with this project: 1) I want something else to show off on my coding portfolio website (it's looking a lil' sad and empty at the moment); 2) I really like working in Python and it'll be useful for me to brush off some of my basic developer skills and problem-solving abilities for working on future projects (namely video games); and 3) I'm hoping to use this opportunity to test out the "fun-ness" and playability of a battle mechanic I want to use in future games and projects that I make. So those are the reasons for me to make this terminal game but what is it actually going to be exactly? Well, it's essentially an upgraded version of Rock-Paper-Scissors meets an RPG battle sequence! For those of you familiar with Card Jitsu from Club Penguin back in the day, it's going to have a similar vibe to that in a way. So it should be fun! And the best part of it? Because it's meant to be played in the terminal - I don't have to create any art or graphics for it. B) So yeah! I'll let you know how it goes! Otherwise, you can check for updates on my coding portfolio website here! In the meantime... I dunno. Have fun with your own projects I guess? Love, Snickerdoodle Demon. :D
